The girls were very excited about the game and were very keen to get the win. However a defiant Bangalow side defended very well in the first half with only a few scoring opportunities going to either side. With the score at 0-0 going into the break - both teams made some changes to try to make something happen in the second half.
Villa then started to build some pressure in attack and midway through the second half the deadlock was broken when Amy Keen slotted one into the corner from close range to put the Angels 1-0 up.
Our girls then kept attacking with many opportunities but also defended brilliantly - again not conceding a goal all game. When the full time whistle was blown the girls were jubilant after a fantastic 1-0 grand final win. Great sportsmanship was shown throughout and at the end of the game our players shook hands and thanked the opposition. Bangalow also congratulated our team and were gallant in defeat.
The presentation was then held and the poinstscore and grand final trophies presented to the captain - Alesha Parker. Player of the match was awarded to Hannah Gallagher for a wonderful all round effort. Well done Angels!!!

Gr12 Angels in War Paint!
The Gr12 Angels completed the regular season on a high this weekend with two big wins.
The first outing was away to Mullumbimby on Friday night. With preparations for the finals well under way the Angels were in battle formation ready to play football and make every touch count. And make it count they did with a 4-0 score line at full time. Player of the match was Alesha Parker who netted a double in a brief stint up front.
The second game on Sunday was at home on CP2 again versing Mullumbimby. The girls were fired up and celebrated the last game of the regular season by painting each others faces in Villa colours. They came out of the blocks running quickly scoring in the opening minutes. They kept the pressure on all game finishing with a 6-0 victory. Standouts were Ashleigh Brown and Hannah Gallagher who both scored twice.
There is a great team spirit within the Angels as shown by the now institutional end of game song and dance and also by the smiles on their faces. The Angels should finish second or third on the ladder and are well placed for the finals.
They have the bye next week but will put in some extra training sessions to stay fresh. Go Angels!

Gr12 Angels Winning Streak!
The grade 12 Angels are on a 6 game unbeaten run with 5 wins and a draw against top team South Lismore.
They had two games on the weekend against Byron and Thistles. It was an arm wrestle against Byron at CP1 with the game flowing from end to end. With two minutes to go it was still 0-0 when Ashleigh Brown slammed one into the back of the net from outside the box to give the Angels a 1-0 victory.
The second game was against Thistles at Wade Park. It was a cautious Alstonville side in the first half that defended relentlessly to go in 0-0 at the break. It was Sophie Oliver who broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half with a perfect tap in at the goal mouth. The Angels then defended their lead with the game finishing 1-0 to Villa. Well done Angels.
