2016 Girls Stanthorpe Trip
Last Sunday Villa took two girls teams (Gr13/14 and Gr15/16) on a bus trip to Balandean to play some friendly games against the Stanthorpe Football girls. This is becoming a tradition as the Stanthorpe girls traveled down to Alstonville last year.
The girls had a great time on the bus trip which included a Trivia Challenge to be completed over the day. Zoe McInnes was the eventual winner of this comp and took home a new Nike soccer ball!
We were welcomed with great hospitality at Balandean with a free lunch and friendly club members and players. After a few short speeches to welcome us the games got under way.
The teams proved to be evenly matched throughout the day. Each team played two games with the Gr13/14 team (coached by Pommy Dave) ending up with two draws. The Gr15/16 team (coached by Todd McInnes) ended up with one win and one loss.
Before departing at the end of the day, Stanthorpe Football had a brief presentation to thank us for visiting and to hand over some samples from the local wineries! It was a great day with the games being played in a great spirit and we met lots a great people. Thank you Stanthorpe Football!
We arrived home about 8:30pm and all agreed it was a wonderful day. Hopefully this can become a yearly tradition with our friends at Stanthorpe Football.

The trials for the FFNC Gr14 girls team which will compete at the State Championships in September has been completed.
Eight Villa players were selected for this team which will compete in Coffs Harbour from 20-21 September against other regional teams. This tournament also serves as a chance to be identified to join the State squad that competes at the National titles in 2015.
The girls selected were Amy Keen, Abbi McInnes, Jessie Jordan, Sophie Sproule, Emily Wiltshire, Kelsey McLeod, Lily Evans and Anna Margraf. Congratulations to all these girls on such a great achievement!
Our other players also performed well and Villa had the biggest representation at the trials which is also a great reflection on our club and the health of female football here on the plateau. Well done Villa!
