Referee Abuse Article
To the Villa Family,
By now most of you will have read or heard about yesterday’s article in the Northern Star relating to an Alstonville player and their abuse of a match official.
In the interests of ensuring accuracy and eliminating ambiguity the Committee wishes to advise the following.
An Alstonville player in our men’s 5th division was sent off for verbally abusing the match official during a match at Crawford Park last Tuesday night. The extent of the abuse both before and after the issuance of the red card was appalling and totally inappropriate.
The Committee has made it very clear that any form of verbal abuse towards match officials will not be tolerated. Accordingly, the Club has imposed sanctions against the player. Sanctions may also be imposed by Football Far North Coast.
We also wish to confirm that neither the Club, or any of it’s players, were involved in the other two incidents mentioned in the article.
We are extremely disappointed that our Club has been publicly shamed in this manner and that the incident was publicised at all, given that it does nothing but detract from Alstonville FC, Football Far North Coast and the game of football as a whole.
The Committee would like to take the opportunity to thank all it’s members and volunteers who consistently do the right thing and tirelessly work to improve our Club and our reputation. Please don’t let this devalue the hard work you all contribute to Villa FC.

The BBQ kicks off at 8am and runs till later in the day. At this stage we only have 2 helpers so any help during the day would be much appreciated!
Please post via our facebook page if you can help or just turn up. Thanks again.

CONDUCT TOWARDS REFEREES
By now you may have heard about the abandoned Premier Division fixture between Alstonville FC and Thistles SC, which resulted in adverse media coverage affecting Villa FC’s reputation, and the reputation of football in general.
Persistent criticism and abuse of referees, by players and supporters alike, has seen 2 senior referees resign this week adding further strain to the existing shortage of referees and assistant referees. If poor behaviour towards match officials continues then the amount of match officials will continue to decline, which will obviously impact the ability of games to proceed in the future.
The committee of Alstonville FC reminds players and spectators that we have a ZERO TOLERANCE LEVEL FOR REFEREE ABUSE.
Please remember that football is a game and meant for the enjoyment of all, including match officials.
Thank you for your support in eradicating this behaviour from our game.

FFA Cup Dream Ends
Our brave Villa Premier team travelled to Coffs Harbour at the weekend to take on local champions Coffs City in the next stage of the FFA Cup.
Coffs had the home ground advantage and outclassed our team in the first half. But the boys fought back in the second half and were competitive but Coffs ended the game with the win (7-4) and are through to the next round. They travel to Newcastle to determine the winner of the NNSWF stage.
Villa had a bus load of supporters who travelled down for the day to cheer on our team and show pride in the Red and Black. Thanks for all their support and well done Villa for making it that far in the comp!

Premier Men Win FFNC FFA Cup Final
On Tuesday night our Mens Premier team played in the final of the FFNC section of the FFA Cup.
Our men won convincingly 5-0 against Goonellabah and now travel to Coffs Harbour on 16th May for the next round. We are also trying to organise a bus trip for supporters to travel down.
The FFA Cup is an Australian version of the FA Cup in England and is a knock out comp where any club team can participate.
At a certain level the State League teams and A-League teams join the competition but any club team is able to win it if good enough.
Well done Villa and good luck in Coffs!
