2016 Junior Grading Completed
All junior competitive teams (Gr12-16) are now formed and ready to go for the season. Players and coaches have been notified of their teams and training is underway.
A big thank you to all graders who helped over the three weeks of grading and musters! It's often hard to find helpers for this task so early in the season but it's a credit to our valued volunteers to have so many willing to help.
Some junior teams will start games on the weekend of 1-3 April and others on 29-30 April. Check the FFNC draw regularly as it should be ready soon.
We hope all our teams have enjoyable season with a focus on player development and fun!

2016 Girls Stanthorpe Trip
Last Sunday Villa took two girls teams (Gr13/14 and Gr15/16) on a bus trip to Balandean to play some friendly games against the Stanthorpe Football girls. This is becoming a tradition as the Stanthorpe girls traveled down to Alstonville last year.
The girls had a great time on the bus trip which included a Trivia Challenge to be completed over the day. Zoe McInnes was the eventual winner of this comp and took home a new Nike soccer ball!
We were welcomed with great hospitality at Balandean with a free lunch and friendly club members and players. After a few short speeches to welcome us the games got under way.
The teams proved to be evenly matched throughout the day. Each team played two games with the Gr13/14 team (coached by Pommy Dave) ending up with two draws. The Gr15/16 team (coached by Todd McInnes) ended up with one win and one loss.
Before departing at the end of the day, Stanthorpe Football had a brief presentation to thank us for visiting and to hand over some samples from the local wineries! It was a great day with the games being played in a great spirit and we met lots a great people. Thank you Stanthorpe Football!
We arrived home about 8:30pm and all agreed it was a wonderful day. Hopefully this can become a yearly tradition with our friends at Stanthorpe Football.

2015 Oceania Cup - Big Success!
The 2015 Alstonville FC Oceania Cup was a great success by all accounts. Held over the October long weekend this was the culmination of much planning and preparation for the unique all girls and womens football tournament.
With 34 teams and approximately 500 players the third year of this tournament exceeded expectations. All teams thoroughly enjoyed the event. The club plans to run the tournament every year and we hope it will only get bigger and better.
Teams from as far away as Canberra, Woolgoolga, Gold Coast and Brisbane attended as well as a host of local teams. And the event received good media coverage.
A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers who helped over the weekend without whom it would not have been possible and to all the visiting teams who attended.
